About
Andrey Sakharchuk
Design engineer for non-ferrous pressure die casting tooling. Forty years in the profession, thirty-two of them in the metallurgical production of AVTOVAZ, Russia's largest car manufacturer.
I design high pressure die casting moulds, trim dies for castings, gravity dies and ancillary tooling for foundry operations. Work is done in Siemens NX (Unigraphics), and clients receive native .prt files rather than geometry converted twice on the way to the tool room.
Correspondence and documentation in English are available. Drawings are normally issued to ESKD; where a project calls for ISO or a customer standard, the package is prepared to it.

Experience and education
- 1983—2015
AVTOVAZ, metallurgical production
Design and process engineering department. Progressed from junior engineer to head of department. Worked on production preparation for VAZ 2108, 2110, Chevrolet Niva, Kalina, Priora, Granta, Vesta and X-Ray. Ran outside tooling orders in parallel.
- 1994
CAD/CAM training at EDS, Cologne, Germany
I learned CAD/CAM at EDS — the company that owned Unigraphics. In other words, I was taught the system by the people who built it.
- 1987
Togliatti Polytechnic Institute
Mechanical engineering technology. Engineering degree.
- Placements
Italy, Germany, Austria, South Korea
Tooling manufacture and foundry organisation practices abroad.
- Since 2015
Independent practice
Tooling design for lighting, automotive components, rail transport and instrument manufacturing.
